What this actually involves

Macs are built tightly, which makes them lovely to use and awkward to repair. Batteries are glued in, keyboards are riveted to the top case on many models, and storage is soldered to the board on most machines from 2016 onward. None of that makes repair impossible, but it does mean the work takes patience and the right approach rather than force.

A large share of what we see is liquid damage. Apple treats most spills as unrepairable and quotes a full board replacement, but a board that is cleaned properly and quickly often survives. Time is the deciding factor: corrosion spreads for as long as the residue sits on the board. If you have spilled something, do not try to charge it or rice it — power it down, leave it, and get it to us.

We also handle the jobs Apple has stopped supporting. Once a Mac is classed as vintage or obsolete, the official answer becomes "buy a new one", even when the fault is a battery or a screen. Those machines are frequently worth keeping. Where a repair genuinely is not economic — a soldered-storage failure on a board that costs more than the Mac is worth — we will tell you that instead of taking the job.
