What this actually involves

Modern malware is rarely the noisy virus people picture. Most of what we remove is quieter and more commercial: browser extensions that redirect searches, adware that injects pop-ups into every page, background miners that make a machine hot and slow, and credential stealers that sit silently and harvest logins. Bring the machine in without using it for anything sensitive in the meantime.
